Photos of the Photographers

I had just finished the Diesel show and met a few photographers outside. They were headed to the Donna Karan show, so I tagged along. Outside the Donna Karan Show:
Photo 1: Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist). This was kind of surreal. I thought the photographer looked familiar. When I approached him for a photo, he kindly obliged, and said "That's fair". He asked me where I wanted to take it and I pointed toward a sunny spot. He pointed to the spot a few feet away. "How about here? There's some shade." "Are you going to take a good photo of me?", he asked. "I'll do my best!" I replied, and voila! I just snapped one, since he seemed like he was in a rush!
Photo 2: Paula Renee (No4Corners) and Brittani Sensabaugh (Brittsense.com)
Photo 3: H.B. Nam (StreetFSN) and Jason Jean (Citizen Couture)
Photo 4 & 5: Bill Cunningham of the NY Times. It was so cool to see him in action! He was super concentrated and immersed in taking photos, so I didn't want to bother him.

Backstage at Diesel

I met Young backstage at the Diesel Black Gold Show. I fell in love with her playful lego belt that she bought in Thailand. The necklace is from her wholesale store in Korea.

Fashion Week Pics

Fashion Week Newbie Here. This is my first season attending fashion shows. I admit I was a bit starstruck at times and just loved people watching! A little recap:

Day 1 (Thurs): Not FW related, but went to lunch in Chelsea with my friend. She spotted Blair from GG. How did I miss that?? Started with the Jen Kao Show at Milk Studios. Sexy and young. Saw Jen Kao backstage. Girl is Hot! Girl crush. Ended up at Asia Society for Tokyo Fashion Event. Tired at 10:30. Need to drink more coffee tomorrow!

Day 2 (Friday): Stopped by Nary Manivong in Chelsea. Saw Tommy Hilfiger, but thought he was Ralph Lauren (Fashion oops, did I mention that I'm new at this?). Ally Hilfiger was the stylist for the collection. My friend (Thanks Ayano!) invited me to go with her to Costello Tagliapietra at Milk Studios. My first time attending a show and I'm ecstatic. Standing room only. Realize I'm standing next to Lani from SugarRockCatwalk.com. Cool! Sophisticated, muted colors, great construction! Snapped a pic of Andre Leon Talley who was at show. Went to Midtown to Couture Fashion Show at Waldorf Astoria. Liking the German Designer Moro Moru - colorful and very Parisian. Loving the feathers and flowers in the hair. FNO is crazy! Patty Smyth. Spotted Karl Lagerfeld exiting a limo and entering into Chanel. People going wild and one girl at the door looks teary eyed!!!

Day 3 (Saturday): Vivienne Tam show at Lincoln Center, Serena Williams was backstage. Also saw Kendra Wilkinson with her entourage. Heard Wonder Girls was around, but missed them! Then off to Milk Studio for Altuzarra. Standing outside I see a young girl with a bob wearing glasses. I ask her for a photo and she politely agrees. Then I realize that she's Tavi!

Friday Finds

My friend told me about the International Inspirations accessories sample sale, so I decided to stop by the last Friday night. Everything was priced from $2 for hair accessories to $5 for rings, bracelets, and necklaces. There were some items that were from their black label for $10. Unfortunately it was the last day of the sale, and I arrived when it was closing so I didn't have much time to browse, but did see a lot of interesting and fun items. I had seen one of my friends wear hot pink feather earrings - she wears them on one ear and it looked so cool! When I saw these red ones, I couldn't resist! And of course, what girl doesn't like to have a rock on their hand?

Craigslist Findings

Ah Craigslist, such an awesome site! Although, at times the listings can be a hit or miss, it's still so useful and even entertaining (ever read the missed connections sections?). My friend, who knows my penchant for vintage clothing, forwarded me a post by a women giving away some of her clothing in exchange for a bottle of wine. She listed that there were some big name designers and mentioned some Levi's & F21 skinny jeans in my size. I figured, heck why not? So I exchanged a few emails with her, and dropped by her apartment. I handed her an inexpensive bottle of sauvignon and I received a white plastic Key Food bag stuffed with clothing. "There's a really nice dress, but you'll probably have to take it in. You're so tiny!" she said apologetically.

Oh shoot, is any of the clothing going to fit me? I resisted the urge to rip open the bag in front of her. When I got home, I inventoried my goodies. There were no skinny jeans! Disappointment. Bloomingdale's brown silk and cashmere, fringed scarf. Ok, not my color, but not bad. Giant Banana yellow shirt with rainbow collar that looks like it could fit three of me in there - hmm. Medium Banana Replublic Button shirt...argh...getting worse. So much for "designer" clothing. Where is that dress? Ahh...what's this I see? A pretty white dress by Floreat? I fear that it will look like a sack on me. But lo and behold, it fits like a glove. Awesomeness! Now to google the retail price...hehe. Krasna Dress from Anthropologie - retail price $188. Cool.

So it was a typical Craigslist experience- a bit of misrepresentation, some weird junk, but luckily I was able to find a little treasure :)
