I recently was invited to a special one night only performance by Tamar Davis at the Cutting Room in NYC. This was the first time I heard her perform, and I was blown away by her voice and energy. Tamar, a grammy nominated singer, is known as the muse, favorite singer and protégé of her mentor, Prince.
Opening for Tamar Davis was Dandy Wellington and His Band, who sang some great Jazz standards.
Tamar's amazing performance was accompanied by a band and back-up vocalists. The 9-song performance included “Be Calm,” “Juz Do It,” “All of Me,” “Like You,” “To Be Loved,” “Heartbeat,” and “Bang, Bang”. The night wouldn't have been complete without a performance of her Grammy-nominated single, “Beautiful, Loved, Blessed”. Tamar closed out the performance with “Apple Tree”. Tamar's next single and sophomore album, When I Dream, are scheduled to be released in 2015. Tamar Davis is currently starring in the national tour of Motown: the Musical.
