BK Fashion Week{end}

I attended the BK Fashion Week{End} "IAM BROOKLYN" Fof Haiti show on Sunday April 12th. Took a lot of pictures and but mostly videos. My camera was out of memory by the end of the night- those videos eat up a lot of memory! Unfortunately, I chose a video that showcases my shoddy video taking skills and only half of a model. That's because it took so darn long to upload (first time uploading a video on blogspot too) So...enjoy! I'll post up more soon :)

Other world

What I love about fashion and photography is getting to peek into the boundless imagination of the creators. The world of Rodarte, one of my favorite designers is beautiful and haunting. They recently designed a four piece collection as an homage to Hong Kong actress Maggie Cheung. Check out the video on Style.com directed by Hong Kong photographer Wing Shya (In the Mood for Love).

I especially like this one because she looks like she's an otherworldly creature.

United Nude Eamz Pump

About a month ago, I spotted a girl walking around in the MoMa with really interesting looking shoes. I approached her and asked her where she bought her shoes. That's how I found out about the Eamz pump by United Nude which were inspired by Eamz chair designed by Charles and Ray Eames. I stopped by the United Nude store in Soho and tried them on and found them surprisingly comfortable. At $275 a pop, it's a bit steep but would definitely make a great conversation starter!

Crocuses!!!

Last week when the snow was almost gone.

H&M tunic dress with MK rainboots

You know Spring is here when the crocuses are out! I definitely have a case of spring fever, which according to the almighty interweb is a sense of nervous energy, restlessness, and plain positivitiness (ok, I made up the last word)!

And I'm probably late in the game, but I've been obsessed with stripes lately. The nautical theme is perfect for spring. I stopped by H&M and bought a cute "organic" cotton dress and also bought a striped sweater from the theory sample sale last week. Now, all I have to do is find a nice sailboat or yacht to lounge about in.

Progress

I was afraid of trees this weekend. Specifically the trees in Central Park. I know this is morbid, but I heard someone was hurt recently from a snow laden branch crashing down on them and sustained some head injuries. Luckily, my friend used to be a park ranger who was trained to recognize the sound of creaky branches. Anyhow, I wasn't going to let the snow stop me from having a fun weekend. I put on me galoshes and went splashing about town. First stop was Central Park, where the scenery was beautiful and I made some new friends.

This guy was hilarious...and his dog was funny too.

Cute tykes. I want a pink onesie and a strawberry hat too!

We also stopped by the Guggenheim museum for the Tino Sehgal's interactive exhibit. It was interesting - basically the exhibit involved talking with different people as we walked through the guggenheim. The exhibit started off with a little girl asking us what is progress. It was nice to contemplate and our definition of process was working towards something better. We talked about the projects in our lives and I realize that I'm in a state of progress, albeit slow progress. I am trying to better myself and my life. Actually I'm in a state of exploration, which in itself, is frightening and wonderful at the same time. We ended the lovely evening at the romantic Cafe Sabarsky, a German cafe near the museum and had delicious desserts. I would say that is progress.

Viennese hot chocolate with fresh whipped cream...mmm

Rasberry Tart...yum

Lucullen Fashion Show

I was fortunate to be backstage last night at the Asian in NY Lunar New Year Event. I helped dress the models for the Lucullen Fall/Winter 2010 collection by Joyce Huang with bags from Accessoir. It was hectic and crazy. I was on my feet from 5 to 10 and didn't get to eat dinner. But I loved every moment of it! The models were so nice and the other dressers did a great job! I met the talented designer Joyce Huang who is really adorable. The dresses were exquisite with unexpected mixtures of textures. They looked so wearable as well. I would definitely love to have some of those pieces in my wardrobe!
