FUTURE DEVELOPMENT EXHIBIT & M2M Nails

Last Friday, I attended the opening exhibit for the Future Development at the Yard. It was an interesting bar with painted wall scenes of an industrial wasteland glowing neon green and purple under the black lights. It was a fun atmosphere and the graffiti was played as a slideshow on the flat screen tvs hanging through out the venue. I almost didn't get in because I forgot my ID, but fortunately (or unfortunately) I don't look 21 anymore. I didn't get to take any pictures because I forgot my camera. but you can check out some pictures on their site or the exhibit.

  • EXHIBIT DATE: May 6 – 13, 2010

  • LOCATION: Loft 676 – 676 Broadway (b/w Great Jones/W. 3rd St and Bond) SoHo, NYC

  • GALLERY HOURS: Sun. May 9 – Thurs. May 13; 10am-4pm

I also had a chance to meet Myrdith from M2M Natural Nails. She was offering manicures with her line of natural nail polish, M2M, and a Minx design on each hand. She did an amazingly quick and neat job (not easy considering the poor lighting in there). But then I learned that Myrdith is also a celebrity nail technician who flies around the world to do fashion shows, as well as photoshoots for magazines such as Elle. I was excited because it was my first time getting Minx done on my nail. The color I chose for my nails were bright cherry red and the Minx was a floral pattern. If you don't know what Minx is, check out my previous post and their website. M2M nail polish is natural and free of formaldehyde and other chemicals. At $11 a pop, pretty reasonably priced. Part of the proceeds from M2M sales also goes toward Haiti. So yes, you can have pretty nails and do good!

BK Fashion Week{end}

I attended the BK Fashion Week{End} "IAM BROOKLYN" Fof Haiti show on Sunday April 12th. Took a lot of pictures and but mostly videos. My camera was out of memory by the end of the night- those videos eat up a lot of memory! Unfortunately, I chose a video that showcases my shoddy video taking skills and only half of a model. That's because it took so darn long to upload (first time uploading a video on blogspot too) So...enjoy! I'll post up more soon :)

Other world

What I love about fashion and photography is getting to peek into the boundless imagination of the creators. The world of Rodarte, one of my favorite designers is beautiful and haunting. They recently designed a four piece collection as an homage to Hong Kong actress Maggie Cheung. Check out the video on Style.com directed by Hong Kong photographer Wing Shya (In the Mood for Love).

I especially like this one because she looks like she's an otherworldly creature.

United Nude Eamz Pump

About a month ago, I spotted a girl walking around in the MoMa with really interesting looking shoes. I approached her and asked her where she bought her shoes. That's how I found out about the Eamz pump by United Nude which were inspired by Eamz chair designed by Charles and Ray Eames. I stopped by the United Nude store in Soho and tried them on and found them surprisingly comfortable. At $275 a pop, it's a bit steep but would definitely make a great conversation starter!

Crocuses!!!

Last week when the snow was almost gone.

H&M tunic dress with MK rainboots

You know Spring is here when the crocuses are out! I definitely have a case of spring fever, which according to the almighty interweb is a sense of nervous energy, restlessness, and plain positivitiness (ok, I made up the last word)!

And I'm probably late in the game, but I've been obsessed with stripes lately. The nautical theme is perfect for spring. I stopped by H&M and bought a cute "organic" cotton dress and also bought a striped sweater from the theory sample sale last week. Now, all I have to do is find a nice sailboat or yacht to lounge about in.
